C’est sans grande surprise que l’Ivoirien Yaya Touré a été sacré jeudi à Lagos au Nigéria, « Ballon d’or africain »; ceci pour la troisième année consécutive. Seul le Camerounais Samuel Eto’o a fait mieux avec trois prix successifs en 2003, 2004 et 2005. Le milieu de terrain de Manchester City confirme son statut de meilleur joueur africain actuel.
Avec 373 points, Touré devance John Obi Mikel, milieu nigérian de Chelsea crédité de 265 points et Didier Drogba, 3e avec 236 points, selon les votes d’un jury composé de sélectionneurs et de directeurs techniques nationaux- découvrir tout le palmarès 2013.
Toujours aussi discret, l’ancien Monégasque a été très sobre dans son discours de circonstance: « Je remercie ma famille pour son soutien et félicite aussi John Obi Mikel qui méritait également ce prix« .
