L’Afrique du Sud en deuil. On vient de l’apprendre. L’ancien international John Moshoeu est décédé des suites d’un cancer. Shoes comme on le surnommait avait 49 ans.
Ces dernières semaines, l’état de santé de Moshoeu s’était aggravé nécessitant une hospitalisation. A l’époque, des rumeurs avaient évoqué son décès. Des informations démenties plus tard par la famille. D’ailleurs, John Moshoeu rejoindra ensuite son domicile après 4 semaines d’hospitalisation.
Finalement, Moshoeu n’ira pas loin. L’ancien Bafana bafana (73 sélections pour 8 buts) faisait notamment partie de l’équipe qui a remporté la CAN en 1996. Il a également joué à Fenerbahce en Turquie. Vague d’émotions dans le monde sportif sud-africain après cette annonce.

The first time I heard about Shoes was on radio in the early 90s. The commentator kept mentioning his name & I realised that he was special.
