L’Australien, tête de série n°15, l’a emporté au bout de l’ultime manche (6-7[3], 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4) et rejoint le troisième tour. L’Australien poursuit donc sa route et file au troisième tour où il sera opposé à Feliciano Lopez ou à Fabio Fognini.

De son coté, John Isner sera au rendez-vous des 16es de finale de Wimbledon. L’Américain a dominé, non sans difficulté, l’Australien Matthew Barton, 248e mondial, 7-6 (10/8), 7-6 (7/3), 7-6 (10/8). Il défiera le Français Jo-Wilfried Tsonga au prochain tour.
